Dr. Mansur Hasib
Mansur Hasib, is the only Chief Information Officer (CIO) in the world with 12 years experience as CIO, a Doctor of Science (D.Sc) in Information Assurance, CISSP (cybersecurity), PMP (project management), and CPHIMS (healthcare) certifications, who has also written two books on the subjects of cybersecurity and healthcare security and privacy.
A global thought leader, Dr. Hasib has led technology and cybersecurity strategy for almost 30 years in healthcare, education, biotechnology, and energy. He is a frequent speaker at local, national, and international conferences in healthcare information technology and cybersecurity and privacy.
Dr. Hasib conducted a national study of cybersecurity compliance in healthcare in 2013 and published the results in a book titled Impact of Security Culture on Security Compliance in Healthcare in the United States of America. This work was cited in the references for ISC2’s new healthcare security and privacy certification.
In March 2014, Dr. Hasib published Cybersecurity Leadership: Powering the Modern Organization. Written for executives and students with no background in technology or cybersecurity he shared his leadership model and his life-long learning with many examples drawn from his practical experiences, research, and observations. His leadership model is applicable in any organization.
Based on his doctoral work, Dr. Hasib developed a course called Enterprise Cybersecurity Governance: Building the Human Firewall which he teaches at Carnegie Mellon University. He also teaches several cybersecurity courses at UMBC.
Dr. Hasib earned his D.Sc. in Information Assurance degree from Capitol College (a National Center of Excellence in Information Assurance Education since 2001), an MA in Political Science from Emory University and a BA in Economics and Politics from Brandeis University. An avid traveler, he has travelled through all 50 states of the United States and loves music, comedy and table tennis.
